| I was introduced to the Z scene by my brother, Tyler, about 2 and a half years ago when I bought a 1992 300zx slicktop as my first car. Luckily he introduced me to tt.net early on. The plan was for me to drive it through high school and eventually convert it to a track car after I graduated. Long story short, that plan was quickly nullified when a lady hit me totaling the Z. This was about five or six months after acquiring the car. I then moved to buy my second Z. This time I bought a 1990 300zx TT for $3000 that was local. It had just under 100k miles and had good compression but was otherwise in pretty poor condition. It had been in a wreck and fixed, but the body lines were definitely off, the clear was pealing and was just overall a ghetto car for lack of better terms. I bought it with the intentions to one day swapping the engine, tranny, and any other good parts to a clean shell. At the time I just needed transportation so it was sufficient. Unfortunately, my mother decided to let me know she loves me and swiped the rear quarter panel expediting the need for the swap. I bought a nice chassis outside of Austin around last November and started to accumulate parts necessary for the swap. And so the work began in June to swap everything over. I'll let the pictures do the talking from now on. Here is how it looked when we pulled it off the trailer. The wheels were just for transportation. ]

Had to mock up the jspecs for some encouragement.
Some of the interior coming together.

And now the real swap starts. This is about June now. The garage was taken so I have to use the back slab for the meantime.
Subframe is up. Duke, my German Shepherd confirms.
 Finally in the garage now.

Ignore the flames, previous owner put them on and they are definitely coming off. I bought the 5zignen fno1rcs for $500 off a guy on craigslist, and he had painted them white. They will have to suffice until I can afford to re-powdercoat them later on. Sizes and offsets are in profile.
What's left of the black Z.
 Engine in.
All together now and running, mostly prepped for paint.
And finally. Done! Except in all reality, not even close as I plan to continue to finish up details and add modifications. All pictures are taken with my simple point and shoot. They were taken on a one way bridge so I didn't have much time to plan, or get settled. Not that if I had more time they would have been better.

My favorite one.

No engine bay pictures because I'm not quite finished with the details. Finally I would like to the end by saying thank you. It has been a great experience, and I have learned a lot. Sure everything isn't perfect, but I'm happy considering what I started with. I would like to thank everyone on here for all the information you have provided, any questions you have answered, and any parts you have sold to me. I know he won't see this, but I'd like to also thank Mr. Peterson. He is friend of my father's that painted my car for free, in return for building a fence for him. He would never accept cash and the only way I could repay him was with labor. Although pearl white is impossible to paint match, he did a great job and blended it so that it is difficult to tell unless you are looking for the difference. I also thank my local Z club, and my neighbor who although lack automotive knowledge, was always willing to lend a hand. And finally I thank my family for putting up with me, especially my brother for helping me along the way. I end by saying by saying it was a great experience. There's a lot of things I would have like to have done, that money and time limited, but hey no AMS parts :). Thanks again Forrest Voss
